Definition of Plant Protection

Crop protection is an activity that protects the plant from attacks Pest ( OPT ) as the cause of disease pests , weeds that can cause damage and loss baek in quality and quantity as well as adverse economic value ( Martono , 1986) .

( Martono , 1996)
Sciences relating to the application of plant protection activities include: Ecology and epidemiology , plant physiology , pathological anatomy and morphology , genetics , taxonomy and plant geography , bacteriology , mycology , virology , entomology , phytopathology , weed science , agronomy , soil science , microbiology , biochemistry , chemistry , biotechnology , physics , meteorology , mathematics, and statistics for pest forecasting , information technology , economic threshold for the determination of control ( Yudiarti , 2007)
Weed is a plant whose existence can cause disruption and damage to crops and human activity in managing their farm ( Djafarudin , 2001) . Plant pest is an animal intruder who physically can still be seen by naked eye without the aid of tools and plants found in the environment that can cause damage to crops both in quality and quantity , causing economic losses . Annoying pest plants such as phylum , whose members are known as the potential crop pests are Aschelminthes ( nematodes ) , molluscs ( snails ) , Chordata ( animals with backbones ) , and arthropods ( insects , tunggau , etc. ) .
Actual disease is a process by which certain parts of the organism is not able to function normally as well as possible because of the existence of a nuisance . The disease can be caused by biotic and abiotic environmental factors ( Agrios , 1996)
